Sandvox - Publish to a GoDaddy Hosted Site

Posted on timeDecember 29th, 2008 by userneil    flagComments Off

This is a step-by-step tutorial of what I did to be able to publish to a GoDaddy Linux Hosted Account from Sandvox.

First I setup the hosting at GoDaddy as explained in the tutorial [GoDaddy - Setup My Hosting Account] and waited until the account was confirmed active by GoDaddy.

I then launched Sandvox and created a New Site… Once I had something to publish, I clicked Setup Host on the Sandvox Toolbar (continue reading at Step 01).

Please note: I do NOT recommend using GoDaddy as a Hosting Provider

01. In Sandvox: Click Setup Host

If the toolbar is hidden, the menu path to this is: Site > Setup Host…

02. Click Edit

03. Click …Remote Host and FTP…

5.1 Enter the domain name of the site. E.g. domain-name.com Note: Sandvox adds http://… / around the domain name for you
5.2 Enter the FTP name (Hostname) E.g. domain-name.com Note: I did NOT need ftp. or ftp:// in front of the domain name
5.3 I left the default FTP Upload Method settings
5.4 I entered my username created in Step 04 of my tutorial [GoDaddy - Setup My Hosting Account]
5.5 I entered my password created in Step 04 of my tutorial [GoDaddy - Setup My Hosting Account]
5.6 Document Root: I left this box BLANK

I clicked Continue

06. Sandvox tested the Settings and passed them.

07. Click Continue
