Sandvox - Creating Categories
Categories are a away of grouping articles in a blog which have a similar theme. As a work-around to create Categories in Sandvox, I have used List of Link pages that are not shown in any index and Category words in a Rich Text pagelet to link to the corresponding List of Links page. The basic process is: I publish the site, create a Links page, go to the page in Safari, add the link in Sandvox.
It’s fiddly but simulates the effect of Categories commonly seen in blogs. I have tried to explain each step of the process I took, below.
01. Add Collection Page
I have published my site to the web. This is what I do to add categories to my site for that published content.
1.1 In Sandvox, I added a Sorted Title List Collections page:
Site > Add Collection > Sorted Title List
02. Inspector: Name the Collection Page, Untick - ‘Include’ options, Tick - ‘Show sidebar’

2.1 Show the Inspector:
Window > Show Inspector
2.2 On the Page tab of the Inspector, enter a Title for the page e.g. Categories
2.3 Untick - Include in site menu
2.4 Untick - Include in site maps
2.5 Untick - Include in collection index
2.6 Tick - Show sidebar
2.7 [Optional] Having the ‘Include pagelets from parent’ ticked, means that pagelets on the home page of the site will be included. If you don’t want this then untick - Include pagelets from parent
03. Add Pagelet to Collection page
3.1 Click on the Categories page in the Site Outline down the left of the Sandvox window, to select the collection page.
If you cannot see the Site Outline, click View > Show Site Outline.
3.2 Add a new Rich Text pagelet:
Site > Add Pagelet > Rich Text
04. Prepare the Pagelet - Text

4.1 Click into and edit the pagelet’s title bar to give the pagelet a meaningful title. I used the title - Categories.
4.2 Click into the ‘Lorem Ipsum’ text and delete all the text. [Triple click on the text will select all the paragraph.] Type the list of words you want to use as the Category names. I used the pipe symbol ‘|’ [Shift+\ on my keyboard] to separate the words.
05. Inspector: Pagelet: Sidebar and Tick - ‘Show on child pages’

5.1 Click on the pagelet created in Step 03.
5.2 Show the Inspector:
Window > Show Inspector
5.3 On the Pagelet tab:
5.4 Click to ‘Dot’ the Sidebar location.
5.5 Tick - Show on child pages
If there is more than one pagelet, the order of the pagelets can be adjusted by clicking the Pagelet Position: arrowheads
06. Add a List of Links page to the Categories collection page
6.1 Click on the Categories page in the Site Outline down the left of the Sandvox window, to select the collection page.
If you cannot see the Site Outline, click View > Show Site Outline.
6.2 Add a new List of Links page:
Site > Add Page > List of Links
6.3 The new page will be added within the Categories collection page.
07. Inspector: Name the List Page, Untick - ‘Include’ options, Tick - ‘Show sidebar’ and ‘Include pagelet from parent’

7.1 In Sandvox, Show the Inspector:
Window > Show Inspector
7.2 On the Page tab of the Inspector, enter a Title for the page. This name will be one of your category name.
7.3 Untick - Include in site menu
7.4 Untick - Include in site maps
7.5 Untick - Include in collection index
7.6 Tick - Show sidebar
7.7 Tick - Include pagelets from parent. This will allow the pagelet created on Step 03 to appear on the page.
08. Add a List of Links page for each category word

8.1 Repeat Steps 05 and 06 for each category word added to the pagelet in Step 04.
09. Safari: Go to a web page on your site

11.2 If you wish, you may add extra information about the link in the Comment: box
Repeat Steps 08 to 11 for each page, in each category.
12. Link Options

On the List of Links : Options tab, are two choices:
12.1 Links: If this is ticked, when the link is published then clicked in a browser, a new browser window will be opened. This is useful to have ticked if the link takes the end user away from your site.
12.2 Layout: The difference between Bulleted and Text can be seen in Sandvox. The Text option make a comment appear as a hanging indent.
