GoDaddy - Setup My Hosting Account
In order to try out using Sandvox with a GoDaddy hosted site, I bought a economy Linux Hosting account at [GoDaddy] and at the same time I bought a domain name from them, to go with it.
This is a step-by-step tutorial of what I did to setup the hosting account with GoDaddy. I did this before I tried to publish to the site host from Sandvox.
I find the GoDaddy interface very confusing. Their only concern seems to be need to sell you more. Every link within the Admin account seems to be for an extra buy-in add-on. Their help references are poor. They spam me with multiple emails to buy more from them and there is always one more that I haven’t quite unsubcribed from.
I do NOT recommend using GoDaddy as a Host.
01. I went to GoDaddy.com and Logged In
I used my Customer Number and password that I created during the original purchase.
02. On the Home section, I clicked: Hosting > My Hosting Account
03. License: I tick the Agreement and clicked Next
04. Login: I created and filled in the New User Login name and password
This is a different username and password from that used to log in to GoDaddy in Step 01.
05. I clicked Next
06. Account Details: The domain I purchased was automatically selected. I clicked Next.
07. Options: I left the default settings unchanged. I clicked Next.
08. Confirmation: I check all was OK
09. I clicked Finish
10. The next screen said the Status was Pending
11. Congratulations: Confirmed on the same page as Step 10
12. I clicked on the View Account List button on the same page as Step 10
13. The List confirmed the Status was ‘Pending Setup’
14. After about 15 minutes I received an email saying the Account was Active
When I went to view my account I now saw the Account Summary of the Active account.
